Harry Potter and the Halfblood Prince SPOILERS,
do NOT click the cut if you don't want to know.

I went with some dear friends, we made a night of it, meeting first to watch some of the previous movies and squee like only fangirls and fanboys can squee, was great fun ;D

Then we went to the cinema, movie started at 1am.

Movie thoughts - first.. I did NOT like what they'd done to Narcissa, she didn't look right at all!! The woman's described repeatedly as a BLOND. Not someone with part blond and part black hair O.o WTF..

Had to get that one out.

For the rest, I (mostly) loved it to itty bitty tiny bits and pieces :D

Draco ruled the movie, dayum.. O.O We got some of the scenes I feared they were going to cut out - Draco smashing Harry's nose in the train, AND we got to see him IN the Room of Requirement, working with that damn Cabinet. And and and... we got to see his Dark Mark...

The whole Sectumsempra scene was changed a bit from canon - no surprise - but I think it worked well, and the shock of seeing Draco lying there bleeding.. *shivers*

They took away some things and added others. Some.. I really don't understand.

Like, why on earth did they cut the whole part with the DEs fighting against the Order and the DA in the corridors of Hogwarts? No Bill getting slashed by Fenrir, how are they going to explain that in DH?

AND, why did Harry not get Petrified. I mean, come on.. we know him, there's no way in hell he'll just stand there, hidden, watching as Draco, Bellatrix (yup, she was there), Fenrir and the Carrows threaten Dumbledore. He'd do his usual gotta-save-everyone thing, regardless of Severus showing up, indicating that he'll go take care of everything. He doesn't trust Severus, remember...

I liked this one though - Bellatrix and Fenrir Greyback attacked the Burrow, Weasley's house, during Christmas. They're both crazy, so why not... And both Harry, Remus and Tonks were in the house at the time. Irresistible to those two dangerous nutcakes.

I was highly amused by this part, evil as it was, because the times I've RPed Bellatrix, I've made her friends with Fenrir, so to see them together like this... my Bella was cackling something fierce.

I had some really loud RP pups along the way. There were scenes where I could barely breathe they were so loud...

My loudest were, without contest, Narcissa, Bellatrix, Regulus and my own invention, Antares. (in short, Antares is Reg's son and Draco's boyfriend.) They're not named in order of "loudness", the last two are still driving me batty.

So these were my first thoughts, will probably add some more once I've had time to mull things over and had some sleep - it's now 9am. Apart from resting yesterday between 11 am and 2.30 pm, couldn't really sleep, I've been awake since 6 am yesterday. Sleep would be good now.

:-) It was a good night.

Also, while I COMPLETELY agree about Narcissa's hair, the actress did a great job. She came off as regal, strong and gracious. Points there for a strong impression done in very few minutes.

I thought the attack on the Burrow was kind of pointless, story wise, but I'd wager it was done to make the terror more personal - and the flip-side was that having had that large action scene, we didn't get the one in Hogwarts. Not enough time for both.

Other thing: I loved the opening, despite its differences, all the way through the first 2 chapters. That was well done for transferral to film.

I hope I'll have more coherent thoughts later, too.

*hugs* It was good seeing you. I hope you got some sleep.

ICON LOVE! Gorgeous and fitting icon.
Made me hunt down an old of my own - Narcissa.

It really was a good evening :)

My opinion on Narcissa this morning was highly biased by my own Narcissa, she's very just the tiniest bit vain about that blond hair and was still complaining about that.. *hides from her*

Both Black sisters were so loud in my poor head during that scene that I literally had trouble breathing. I agree Narcissa did a great job, showed all the emotion we expected of her, along with being - as you say - "regal, strong and gracious." Powerful scene.

I can't wait to get the dvd so I can watch that scene - along with a bunch of others - a billion times. :D

The attack on the Burrow was indeed pointless story wise, nothing canon whatsoever, but it made the terror from those two personal and it fitted so well with my personal canon it was downright scary. That is SO something the Bellatrix in my head would do, and the Fenrir I've played with - Jamie's in Moonlight and NDR - would absolutely love targeting Remus, plus our versions of these two are good friends, so... my personal canon of those two was bouncing for joy. :P

I think you're right, it probably had impact on the fight scene at Hogwarts, which saddens me. I'd rather have had that bit of canon, which I find very important! than had my personal canon bouncing.

The opening was awesome, the attacks on Muggles, the way the DEs moved through London, the bridge.. really well done!

I got a lot of sleep today, was good. I hope you got some sleep as well. :)

It was good seeing you too. :) *hugs right back*

The hair didn't bug me as much as I thought it would in-movie, but it still bugs me overall.

Draco is loud, loud, loud. And yes, I did like Blaise but he points out that he is *NOT* a Quidditch player.

Oh, and the scene between Harry and McLaggen at the christmas party--I was reminded of a Blaise/Hermione fic I wrote once... :D

Looks like they're cutting Bill out entirely. why bother having them at all? Yeesh.

Ginny's looking to have a bigger part in the finale, though. Not that I mind.

Loudest after Draco was Reg, actually. Even though I knew they wouldn't show anything obvious, I watched the bodies in the water... And then Blaise, of course. Not a peep from Rab. And I only felt *for* Snape. He's really gone quiet... :S

I was crying from about the time they met at the top of the tower to leave...off and on, but still... :S

Me too, my Narcissa is still complaining about her hair. :S

Me, Tares and Cissa: *cuddles Draco*

Yeah, I was sitting next to Bunneh and she and I whispered to each other about Blaise, first that he was hawt, and then "WTF, Blaise and Quidditch... NEVER!!"

That scene was *SO* funny, McLaggen eating "dragon balls" and throwing up at/on Snape's feet... priceless. xDDD

One of the others said that she'd seen photos from the shooting of DH, and Bill's there. But missing that fight and Bill *REALLY* bugged me. Huge mistake in my eyes.

I suppose we'll survive Ginny being around :P

Reg was *SO* loud, it's painful even now. The cave.. I too was looking at those bodies, thinking "he's there" and... *tearing up now*. He's *NOT* there *stomps foot*

I love my Reg, but watching that movie, I really wished he hadn't popped into my head until after I'd seen the movie ((but if he hadn't been there, I would probably have had a loud Sirius instead, crying for his brother. He did peep up, but was drowned out by Reg)). Watching the whole cave scene with him in my head was horrible, he was so freaking loud, and continued to be so, hurting for what he'd done and for what Draco was doing.

*snuggles you and your boys tightly* <3

D: *curls tight around all three of you*

LOL Yes...I loved Snape's reaction.

I agree. I would have preferred the full attack at Hogwarts over the Burrow thing. :P

*cuddles your Reg*

Let me know which boy you need more. Ree and Draco are both available. Oh, and Ree says to completely ignore the impostor in the movie.
